Dear Parents, Students and Community Members,
Ridgeland School District #122 has a proud tradition of providing students with the finest education possible with the resources available. It is through Professional Learning Communities that parents, teachers, administrators and community members work together to make every student a top priority in the district. Consistent test scores that are above state averages, a balanced budget, and five new and renovated buildings are signs of a progressive school district that fosters student learning. It is this nurturing of student learning that makes everyone a success in the Ridgeland community.
Also, tied to our success is the Ridgeland School District curriculum. The curriculum is developed and implemented through Faculty Leaders (teachers) which is closely tied to Illinois State Standards. Within our webpage you will be able to follow the curriculum on our grade level pacing charts. The development of pacing charts has been rooted in the latest research and best practices by educators for educators. Faculty Leaders revisit the pacing charts yearly.
Beyond test scores and curriculum, however, it is our desire to produce students who put others before themselves and see the world through broader eyes. Character Counts, DARE and other programs provide our students with the social skills they need to be successful. Respect, responsibility, citizenship, caring, and fairness are just few of the words we teach students on a daily basis. We not only want our students to be ready academically, but we would like them to be well rounded individuals as they prepare to go on to high school.
Finally, we have strong parental support in the Ridgeland Community. Through the PTO and PTA, parents and community members have helped our teachers with the "extras" needed to make our students more successful. Each school is blessed with active, supportive parents whose contributions have furthered enhanced our students educational experience. To join PTA/PTO, please contact the neighborhood school you live in and ask for details.
All in all, I cannot say enough good things about Ridgeland School District 122. If ever I can be of assistance to you, please do not hesitate to call, e-mail or stop by the District Office.
Yours for a better school district,
Tom Smyth Ed.S.
