Kolb Elementary School -

Dear Kolb Elementary Families,

I am thrilled to introduce myself as the incoming Principal of Kolb Elementary School. My name is Sheri Maher, and I am honored to be joining this incredible community of students, parents, and educators. Although I am new to the Building Principal role, I am beginning my 24th year of service working for Ridgeland School District 122, with 10 years working at Harnew Elementary School as a classroom teacher, and 13 years at the District Office in the curriculum department.  With a heart full of enthusiasm and dedication, I am eager to work collaboratively to foster a nurturing and inspiring learning environment for every young mind that walks through the doors of Kolb School. 

I am equally excited to introduce Mr. Jeff Summers, who will be joining us as the Assistant Principal. Together, Mr. Summers and I are committed to ensuring that each student's academic journey is not only enriched with knowledge but also enriched with a strong sense of belonging and emotional well-being. Our school's mascot, the tiger, symbolizes strength, courage, and the pursuit of excellence – values that we aim to instill in our students as they grow and learn.

At Kolb Elementary, we are proud to embrace Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to create a respectful and inclusive learning atmosphere. This year, our PBIS theme "Outer Space" will launch us on a stellar journey, encouraging students to reach for the stars in their behavior, interactions, and contributions to our school community.

I look forward to seeing all the students back on the first day of school, August 18th. The first day is a half day for students in Grades 1 to 5 beginning at 8:50am and ending at 12:10pm.  In addition, all kindergarteners will attend Kindergarten Orientation with their parents on August 18th from 9:30-10:30a.m.

We are excited to invite all Kolb Elementary families to mark their calendars for the upcoming Open House event, scheduled for Thursday, August 31st, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. This event presents a wonderful opportunity for parents, guardians, and students to familiarize themselves with our school environment, meet our dedicated educators, and gain valuable insights into the upcoming academic year.
